Through the proposed method, the expert assures that “an inoculated person will have not only humoral immunity but also mucosa at the entrance door”.

Alexander Guíntsburg, director of the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology in Moscow, the Russian laboratory that developed the Sputnik V anticovid vaccine, stated that if immunization is carried out with that drug and then people are revaccinated with the nasal version , complete protection will be ensured not only against the serious course of the disease, but also against coronavirus infection in principle.

The expert affirmed in an interview with RIA Novosti, published this Thursday, that the laboratory suggests that the immunity obtained by this form of vaccination would be “sterile”. “That is, an inoculated person will have not only humoral immunity but also mucosa at the level of the entrance door,” explained the specialist.

Guíntsburg also indicated that this way of administering the drug creates an “independent barrier” that prevents the entry of the virus.

  • In August, it became known that Russia has completed preclinical studies of a nasal version of the Sputnik V vaccine and is preparing for clinical trials.
  • Sputnik V vaccine is now in 70 states with a total population of more than 4 billion people.
