Day of taking out the old calculators, reviewing data and doing balances. Just as it was Microsoft’s turn yesterday, today is the time to see how Sony has done, specifically the playstation division. The company has presented its financial results for the Q2 of fiscal year 2022.
First of all, it should be noted that PS5 already stands at 13.4 million units sold since its launch in 2020. Therefore, comparing with the previous quarterly results, 3.3 million have been sold between July and September 2021. Despite the obvious stock problems, the progression is comparable to that of PS4 in its moment and the objective is reach 14.8 million sales.
Sony claims to have insured the planned PS5 units for this fiscal year, so the increase should be steady. In the case of PS4, already in its final cycle, there have barely been 200,000 consoles sold in this Q2, for the 500,000 of the last financial balance.
If we approach the number of video games sold in this period, we see that the data stays in 76.4 million, with 7.6 million in direct sales of PlayStation works. On the horizon are titles such as God of War Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West with simultaneous releases for both PS5 and PS4.
Regarding PlayStation Plus subscribers, we find a total record of 47.2 million active userss. An increase compared to the 46.3 million of the last quarter and above the 45.9 million of the same exercise of the previous fiscal year.
For active players on the PlayStation Network, the figures show 104 million accounts. This supposes a drop a million people for the previous quarter and up to four million compared to Q2 of fiscal year 2021.
