The multinational Ikea, recognized for its portfolio of modular furniture and home products, is ready to open its second store in Colombia.

After landing in the country with a headquarters in Bogotá, it now sets its eyes on Antioquia to expand its operation.

And what is the chosen place to do it? Envigado, municipality of Aburrá Sur, will be the one that will house the new store of this multinational company domiciled in Sweden.

Specifically, Ikea will open its doors in the Viva Envigado shopping center, in 2024.

“The new store it will have more than 18 thousand m² of surface and will deliver the complete IKEA experience, projecting its inauguration for the second half of 2024 ”, explained Hasbleidy Castañeda, Market Manager for IKEA Colombia.

According to her, having stores in “the best locations in Bogotá and Medellín”, along with an online sales channel with coverage throughout the country, will allow the company “to reach the largest number of Colombians with accessible design products that contribute to improving their quality of life and that of their families ”.

Of course, the announcement was celebrated by Grupo Éxito, who through Juan Lucas Vega, vice president of real estate, assured that “a great commitment to the economic reactivation of the country, innovation, constant transformation and the consolidation of our commercial offer”.

According to Vega “today Viva Envigado is one of the shopping centers with the highest traffic in the city, with mmore than 2 million visitors per month”.

It is worth saying that Ikea currently has more than 400 stores in the world and recently set its sights on South America, as a base to expand its operation.
