The members of the Peru Libre bench presented a bill to declare of national interest and public necessity to the yonque as a national flag drink.

This proposal, raised at the initiative of the legislator Américo Gonza Castillo, seeks that said liquor has the seal of the Peru brand and designation of origin, as in the case of pisco.

Likewise, “to provide assistance and promote the production, elaboration, commercialization, export, diffusion and promotion in all kinds of official events within the country and abroad,” the document indicates.

For these purposes, they refer that the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the different portfolios establish the norms and pertinent actions for the production and commercialization of the yonque.

Consumption in official activities

This project also wants to promote the internal consumption of said drink “in all official and protocol activities of public institutions, such as events organized by the embassies and commercial offices of Peru, and other public institutions abroad.”

It also seeks to promote scientific studies and research that contribute to knowing and disseminating the benefits of yonque and its different uses.

The yonque It is a brandy that comes from the distillation of sugar cane.
