Deportivo Cali is still in the fight to qualify for the semifinal home runs. Those led by Rafael Dudamel defeated Patriotas de Boyáca 2-0 for the sixteenth date of the BetPlay League 2021-II at the Palmaseca stadium and returned at eight with five days remaining for the all-against-all final. Kevin Velasco and Angelo Rodríguez scored the commitment goals in the second half.
First half closed in Palmaseca
A very close first half with few goal options. Valle del Cauca dominated possession of the ball and tried to impose conditions, however, the locals were not deep and their generation of plays in attack was little. The Boyacenses for their part showed defensive solidity, waited behind and bet on speed to do damage, thus getting three dangerous plays.
The clearest of the first half was had by Patriotas. José David Leudo received a ball in three quarters of the court and took a powerful cross shot who demanded goalkeeper Guillermo de Amores who flew and sent the ball to the corner kick. Kevin Aladesanmi and Cristian Darío Barrios also created danger.
Cali keeps the three points with effectiveness
For the second half things changed and Deportivo Cali began to be more effective in attack, while Patriotas did not find a way to regain clarity from three quarters of the court forward. At minute 67, Kevin Velasco opened the scoring with a free kick. The winger charged from the left side, his shot was deflected by Mateo Rodas, dislodged Carlos Mosquera and entered the goal after hitting the post.
A minute later, the greens got the second. Andrés Colorado sent a pass to the back of the visiting defense, which was connected by Ángelo Rodríguez, who lowered the ball with his chest, settled down and took a placed shot that left the rival goalkeeper without a chance to react.
With this result, Deportivo Cali climbed to the eighth box of the standings with 24 points after six games won, six tied and four lost. On the next day he will visit Atlético Huila at the Guillermo Plazas Alcid de Neiva.
