The Valencia Basket of Cuban Jasiel Rivero defeated Hereda San Pablo Burgos 69-65 today in a match corresponding to the ACB League.
This match meant the return of coach Joan Peñarroya and the Havana pivot to the club where they made history, for which they received a warm welcome and a tribute from the board of the Burgos team before starting the clash.
Rivero spent 22 minutes on the court, dropped six rebounds and scored the same number of points to contribute to the third victory for his team, which seeks to achieve positive streaks.
The taronjas took the first two quarters with the same score of 23-19 and lost 11-16 in the third quarter.
With only three points of advantage for the visitors, he started the last period, which ended 12-11 in favor of the oranges again and sealed the close 69-65 final.
Valencia Basket achieved its success thanks to a greater effectiveness in the field kicks, although it benefited from the poor aim of its rivals who shot 50% from the free line, an aspect in which perhaps Burgos escaped the match.
With this result, the club led by Peñarroya rose to tenth place in the table, with a balance of three wins and three setbacks.
Valencia’s next challenge will be on October 23 against Morabanc Andorra, which is 13th in the standings.
