Torrential rains and lightning strikes could be recorded in some municipalities

The National Meteorological Service in San Juan this afternoon issued a flood warning for several municipalities on the island.

Guaynabo, San Juan and Trujillo Alto are under heavy downpours that could cause accumulations of water on roads and poorly drained areas, the SNM warned.

The agency also indicated that urban and stream flooding are possible.

This warning is in effect until 5:00 pm

While for Ciales, Corozal, Morovis, Naranjito, Orocovis and Villalba, the warning is in effect for 5:15 pm

The SNM also issued a special statement due to strong thunderstorms that are affecting the municipalities of Gurabo, Caguas, Trujillo Alto and adjacent towns.

The report states that rain, torrential, frequent lightning, and winds in excess of 30 mph are possible in the aforementioned towns or nearby areas.

Localized flooding and lightning strikes could also be reported.

This special announcement is in effect until approximately 2:15 p.m.
