Yamisderky Pelier, Niurka Primonio and Anisley Pérez ended the hunger strike this Sunday in front of the UN headquarters in New York.
They went more than 160 hours without eating food. Two of them are in the hospital, they reported on Facebook.
In a direct from his Facebook profile, Pérez said that “Our bodies collapsed and that is why we are going to end the strike, but this continues.”
He added that the three plan to travel to Miami to hold meetings with legislators and continue promoting the cause of Cuba’s freedom.
Among the demands of the three Cubans were a political change on the island and a change in the international community’s policy towards Cuba.
During the strike, the three had declared that they wanted to stimulate a wave of world attention to the tragedy suffered by the Cuban people, in the midst of repression, shortages and pandemic.
